My problem is not with the phone battery when the phone is on I know how to mange that, my problem is when I dont have a charger near and have to use the phone until the battery runs out.

When I charge it while its switched off it takes approximately 30 minutes to 1 hour until the phone turns on again (while still connected to a charger)

I keep looking at this icon for long time until the phone switches on.

Also its been like this since I bought it .

I took it to Nokia Care here they simply laughed and said that's normal with Nokia phones.

My question is, is this really normal? How long does it takes your phone to switch on (while already connected to a charger)????

If something is wrong I will go back to them and talk about it.

The reason this happens when your phone runs out of battery completely is that Nokia phones keep the last bit of the battery is used as a reserved to make sure the phone can still operate and turn on again. This reserved is used at around 5-10% of the battery. When you completely run out of battery power your phone first tries to charge this reserved up before it will charge the rest of the battery up. It can take a bit of time to charge this reserved up, and then completely charging your phone up from 0-100% can take a few hours.

The nature of Li-ion batteries is that keeping them on charge when they're full, or consistently draining them to empty will damage them and over time they will be able to hold less charge as a result. This all means that you should be trying to keep your phone's battery between 20-90% all the time if you can do. If you can manage this you'll keep your phone running for the longest time possible.

As far as your specific problem goes, taking 30 mins to an hour just to start up seems like your battery needs changing. It shouldn't take that long to just start up, I wouldn't have thought. Try to get a replacement if you can.

Your battery was so low it would not enter the boot cycle. I saw this once when I bought my 520 to AT&T to activate it it showed the same picture you showed on your post. Come to find out the phone is saying the charger was not connected to the battery. What had happened the tech put the battery in wrong when he removed it to install the sim and he bent one of the pens. It was not making contact and the phone kept saying it needed to be charged and to plug in the charger. The plug showing over the battery and the little red line means it is NOT connected to the battery. The AT&T people kept saying the phone needed to be charged; but it would not charge. I took the phone home and it never would charge. Luckly I made a post and a guy who had had the same problem told me to bend the pens slightly and it would solve the problem. I did like he said and I have never had the problem again. Its possible you are not getting a good connection from the battery to the phone, just like my 520 was. I have never had this problem with my 820 as the connection is different from the battery to the phone. But those pens are easily bent if you are not carefull.
