Photo organization help

After the iphone 5 letdown, I am finally giving up my iphone and going to my Lumia 900 full time. I have been syncing my iphone with my Windows 7 PC for a long time and was wondering whats the best way everyone has found to orgainize thier pics for syncing with thier WP? I currently keep all my pictures in thier own folder organized by year dating back to the 1940's. When I sync it, every year becomes it's own album and its crazy to try and navigate. Any tips or tricks so I can set it up now and sync hassle free in the future?
