Nope, unfortunately not. Microsoft decoupled the pictures hub from the OS, like many other apps (music, video, calendar ...) in order to be able to update them just like regular store apps, instead of bundling updates for these apps in OS updates. The downside is, that some of these apps lost functionality we were used to. A positive aspect, besides the ability to provide more frequent updates now is, that developers are now able to tie into these apps. Take Turtle Blog Viewer for example. It appears in the pictures hub now, like Facebook and OneDrive. You can access your dashboard and likes directly in the pictures hub, without the need to launch the app.
