Podcast App that allows you to add existing episodes?

One of the things I loved most about Windows Phone 7 and Zune was the ability to subscribe to a podcast which usually only lists the most recent say 2 or 3 episodes, but be able to manually put in additional back-episodes so that you could play them with the official player, even though they weren't on the podcast list...

I hoped that we would get this back but it appears this is never going to happen.

So is there any third party app that allows such behavior? Several podcast apps exist and they look great, but they all simply let you subscribe to whatever happens to be available at the time. I want to be able to add the back episodes so I can "catch up" until I'm in sync with the current episodes.

Is this a pipe dream? or has someone figured out a way to make this happen? I'd gladly purchase if only someone can point me to an app that does this!

WP 8.1 includes a Podcasts app that allows you backtrack, select and download previous podcasts, both audio and video (add them to your favorites to get a checklist for downloading). I love it. Have Freakanomics and Ted Talks (available in audio and video). Settings allow you to subscribe and indicate how many episodes to store.

The only downside is that it doesn't allow you to browse through a podcast library and select new series that sound interesting. You can search by podcast name or URL, but it doesn't offer a podcast store.
