I know it's too early to ask..... but still.....

I also know that Windows 7/8.1 users would be able to upgrade to Windows 10 for free. But I wanted to know whether I would be able to upgrade to it from a preview (technical) build for free. Currently, I am using Windows 10 build 9879 on my laptop. I had a genuine Windows 8.1 before. So, now would I be able to upgrade to the "Final Build" without paying? Or I think that it'll be possible to use my Windows 8.1 product key to activate Windows 10 after its launch during Q3.

Also, would it be possible to upgrade to Windows 10 for Phones from its (February) preview?

Yes, Microsoft is counting on upgrading people on the Technical preview to the final build without the need for a clean install. They aren't promissing it, but that's the plan.
Same with WP10.

You will NOT pay for Windows 10 in any way, as long as you upgrade from whatever you have (W7,8 or 8.1) to W10 within the first year of commercial availability. For the first year it is FREE. I'm just not sure if they'll attach that "free" license to your existing license or to the PC itself via the motherboard production code.
