I purchased a Lumia 920 and a Lumia 820 and it seems odd that the 920 with a 2000mAh battery would come with a 1000 mA power adapter in the box and the 820 with a 1650 mAh battery comes with a 1500 mA power adapter... The power adapter for the 920 is prettier and looks more high end because its more compact, but reading its label you realize that it is more compact because it has less current capacity. I have since switched adapters with my wife and notice the 920 charging faster... I hope there is not a counter intuitive reason why the 920 ships with a lower capacity power adapter than the 820. What do you think?

I did my best to find some technical information.

The best I could find basically states that higher current chargers just charge the battery faster. What's important is that the voltage is not higher than the battery rating.

So using the L820 battery charger is fine. I'm not sure what the threshold is but I don't think you should go much higher than 2A.

As to why the L920 came with such a low current charger I think had to do with style over function.

I agree that it must be "style over function" since the 920 comes with the prettier adapter. The other adapter, though, does charge it faster!
