Problem attaching pictures to SMS Icon W10M

I just bought a refurb Icon from Amazon a few weeks back, and after much updating, I have it running .164. I am having camera problems though. The app crashes frequently, and I am often unable to text pictures, in particular when I link directly from the camera. More than half the time, I get an error that says "too large" and the photo disappears. Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?
