Hi Everyone

Im off to America for a few weeks at the end of the month.

Im just wondering what networks will my UK (Soon to be unlocked) 920 work on?

From what i can tell it will only work on AT&T 3g/4g but was hoping to use Tmobile as it looks cheaper. (Not bothered about 4g as long as it picks up 3g.

Or could someone from across the pond let me know the best Pay and go plans... i only wanna make a few calls but manly for data, as my EE network want ?50 for 200mb.

If you are just going to be here for a couple of weeks, AT&T Pay As You Go would be your best bet.

Thanks for getting back to me Palandri

I take it i would get 3g/4g with AT&T.... Do they have any prepaid plans with say 1/2gb of data?

Actually, unless I'm mistaken, the AT&T 4G is incompatible with the UK 4G. So you would be locked to 3G. Like I say, I could be wrong though.

Don't T-Mobile and AT&T both use most of the same bands as UK? I think they both use the same for their HSPA+, anyways. I don't think you'll have LTE, but HSPA+ should work. I think.

T-Mo uses different bands for 3G although they are reframing areas to use AT&T bands. But if you aren't in a reframed area you're stuck with 2G on T-Mo

Cheers Guys

Looks like im heading to AT&T when im over there.... Wheres the best place the get a sim and credit? When i went years ago i remember being stung in the butt for a AT&T sim and credit on a NYC store.

This looked a good deal at walmart.. would the data plan be ok on the 920? As i read somewhere you only get unlimited data if you are on a old phone, so you would need a smart phone plan.

When you come to the states, there are two types of AT&T stores. An official AT&T store and there is also an AT&T Reseller. You want to make sure you go to an official AT&T store, not one that says Reseller under their AT&T banner. Here are the rates for AT&T Pay As Go I use an AT&T Pay As You Go SIM card in my work phone:

$25.00 for 250 monthly minutes and unlimited SMS & MMS (add $10.00 for international calling)

$5.00 for 50MB of Data
$15.00 for 200MB of Data
$25.00 for 1GB of Data

The Walmart link with Straight Talk will also work for you. It's an AT&T MVNO . I think there data is still unlimited as far as I know. Some people say you can't stream with their data, others say they can stream fine with their data.

You'll get 3.5G HSPA+ on either.

Where will you be, exactly? T-Mobile is cheaper but you will not get 3G unless you are in a refarmed area.

Im off to San Fran and LA thats why i wanted data so i can get myself around using the 920 without looking like a tourist lol.

I did hear that tmobile were changing the band but dont know from what and to what to.
