Q9c can not connect to email unless connected to laptop through activesync

Hello, I have searched like crazy but to no avail..

When I am connected to my computer through activesync, I am able to access my email account through my Q9c.

When I am not connected to my computer, my phone gives me the error: Your Internet connection is not configured properly. Please verify your settings in Connections.

I am able to go online through IE and Opera though. So I know I am able to connect to the internet, I just can not get to my email. Also, I am not able to connect to weatherbug to update my weatherbug home screen unless I am connected to activesync.

If I am connected to activesync and disconnect my home internet, I am unable to connect to my email through my phone, so the issue is something to do with my phone using my computer internet to connect to my email and weatherbug. This issue does not default the connections back to my phone internet, like they are trying to connect to the internet through my computer, even though I am not connected to activesync.

I have tried so many things and searched every term I can think of. I am out of ideas and am hoping that somebody here has a solution.

By the way, I also tried to check/uncheck the box on activesync to "Allow data connections on device when connected to PC" - I had read somewhere that it might help, but no matter if it is checked or not, it does not change anything.
