Question about keyboard language

I am 99% convinced that WP is the OS for me, but I have a question:

I am in the US, but my native language is Norwegian. I use both languages daily.

1. Can I set my region to US and still have a Norwegian keyboard? Or is it easy to change between English and Norwegian keyboards?

2. Is it easy to add words in the dictionary for both English and Norwegian?

3. Is it easy to change dictionary between Norwegian and English so I won't be auto-corrected into saying something wrong?

As far as I know, the Norwegian keyboard can't use Swype, but I have never figured out how to use that feature anyway, so no worries about that for now.

Thanks!

1 Yes, you can set a Norwegian keyboard and Region US and yes you can easy change between them.
2 Yes (for every language you have a separate dictionary so you have to add them "separate")
3 Yes, if you change the keyboard you change the dictionary.

Indeed for Norwegian there is no swipe but for US there is.

But also see below links to explain it in more details.

And hopefully we can welcome you soon as a Windows Phone user.

And see this post for some keyboard tricks.

Thank you! How do you change between keyboards? Can you do it from keyboard mode (ie when the keyboard pops up on the screen)?

Hi

I'm in France and have French, German, Dutch and UK English installed. There is a button to the left of the spacebar to change quickly with a long-press. They automatically switch to qwerty, azerty, etc. Only small detail you have to watch are decimals as EU apps require a comma while US will want a dot so make sure to go back to your default, French in my case, before you "leave" 😊.

I'm coming from Android and am very pleased with my L930. Unless you're a "rommer", the closed Windows eco-system is a benefit. I even like the limited availability of apps as one doesn't overload the phone. I used to have almost 100 apps on my Android that I hardly used but thought I needed. Today I only have a few as the basic W8.1 already has a lot build-in.
Have fun!

I rooted my Android tablet (though there is no ROM for it), but I like when things are simple. Windows and I go way back to 3.11, though I have some Linux background as well. I like simple and user friendly, but I am not a fan of Apple, so Windows it is.

I am thinking Lumia 640.

There I beat you as I'm in it since Windows 1. A two floppy drive PC clone but 640 kb of RAM! One would never need more Bill once said... 😞. Still remember half of the DOS commands, we've come far.
