The reason you are not getting replies,
We don't know what device you have a mail on
We do not know what mail app you are talking about
We don't know what account the mail is tied to

Thanks for the response T Moore.

Answering the questions in order:

My device is an Acer Windows 10 PC
The App is Windows 10 Mail
My mail account is Talk21.com (BTinternet.com in the UK)

Since posting my question I reset the Mail app and it seems to have updated itself with a 'Trash' folder instead of a 'Deleted' folder, however, all my deleted items are in this new Trash folder. As a point of interest the default colour scheme also seems to have changed but that is of no avail.

Although I am up and running I would appreciate any insight into what may have happened to cause this glitch, as it all happened during an attempted search to the Deleted folder.

Thank you

The following is just conjecture.

I know in the past I've seen settings (for IMAP email accounts at least) where you can map the client's Junk, Trash, Drafts folders to certain folders on the Server which might have slightly different names, like Spam or Deleted.

I would have chalked it up to Windows 10 Mail acting up and next time something goes awry, I would try to check the website if you have the option, because generally with email, the website/service/server has the last word on where your email is.
