Reload all music

Hi, I'm about to install 8.1 on my Lumia 1020. But I want to do a clean slat on all my music. It's a big mess...some songs won't play due to error and some songs won't download. What is the best way in handling this. Should I reset my phone to original stage first before installing 8.1?

Install 8.1 and then do a hard reset.
