Resuming and Loading?

I upgraded from my old 920 which I left on WP8 to a L640 which comes with 8.1 update 2. Anyway I have noticed it noticeable slower than my 920 despite better hardware, I constantly get Resuming or Loading and its starting to really bug me, the entire phone feels slow and clunky which is something I've never said about WP before. Anybody any advice?

If you restored from a backup, remember that the phone is still installing apps and data in the background, until that ends it will be slow. So I suggest you wait till everything finishes installing. If this still continues then you should reset the phone and not restore (starts from fresh)
