I actually wanted the Surface Pro X but now I am scared by it's bad benchmarks but now I am not sure if I should buy this Foldable next year, wait for the Surface Pro X 2, Pro 8, Book 3 or this the Neo. Because I don't want to have that many devices and want a laptop I can use for school and developing software. Can you give me advice?

Probably not the advice you're looking for but I recommend a standard 13 or 15-inch laptop if this will be your only device. You'll get better value, especially for development, unless you're doing something specifically for the foldable form factor. More specific advice would be to look at non-MS laptops: Dell, HP, Lenovo. Your dollar will go much further.

Neo will be too small as a laptop.it's pretty much unknown territory right now both software & hardware wise.

If you can wait then it is wise to wait for pro 8 or book 3 both devices are up for design change next year & intel's 11 gen processor which might boost battery life. Specially book 3 might launch early because it's almost 2 year since book 2 was launched.
About surface pro x if your use case is lite then only it is recommended otherwise look for surface pro 7 if you can't wait.
