Stopped by AT&T to grab a secure SIM and see what all this NFC payment business is about. Downloaded app and found the 830 isn't supported. Threw the SIM in my 1520, updated with Developer Preview and was able to sign up and create an account. Even linked my credit card.

Put it back in my 830, signed in and... the 830 isn't supported. I'm guessing because it's unbranded. What do you all think?

I replied on this earlier, but for some reason got my post flagged?

You have to contact AT&T directly and talk to a rep. They have a line item to enable SoftCard on your phone. It's free. But you shouldn't have to go into a store to get it done.

Hate that I didn't see that sooner... Traded my 985 to a coworker that bought the AT&T version (he's using T-Mobile). It'll definitely work now, d'oh.

Thanks for the reply!

Did this work for anyone? I just spent an hour on the phone with a rep and the only thing she was able to do was add my IMEI number to my account, but that didn't work. Then I called a Softcard rep and complained about their terrible app making decisions, namely, if my phone has the hardware for it AND the AT&T SIM for it, the software shouldn't care! It should just work!

He told me he'd get me someone who could help and moments later I was on the phone with AT&T again.

So frustrating.

Will try this when I get home. I think SoftCard lists a special support number for AT&T/ tmobile/Verizon on their website.

So it's interesting, the error that reports that you need to have a compatible SIM isn't correct. You just need to have it enabled on your account.

I actually have a physical receipt that has a line item for the SoftCard activation and all it says is:

"ADDED Wallet activated by Store Agent $0.00"

Good luck!
