After just two months of owning my 640 XL, the screen got the dreaded yellow spot in the upper right corner. After going rounds with Microsoft's mobile support on the phone and sending my phone in for repair, they won't repair it. Because I bought an unlocked international version and I live in the US, there's no valid US warranty. I understand their policy, however I think it's just an excuse to avoid doing something they'd have to do if I lived in the country of origin.
This experience being what it is, I really question if I would buy another phone from Microsoft. The fact that they won't stand behind their products is just awful. The fact that the screen burned out in two months is even worse. I love their OS and it's extremely difficult to find a dual sim device with LTE bands of 2 & 4, which I need.
Are the US unlocked versions of the MS phones usually available as soon as the international? It seems like when I was trying to buy my 640 XL back in May, I could ONLY find the international flavor and the US version came out about a month later, or am I just thinking that and I'm incorrect?
