Windows Central Question

Hi there,

In September I will start my studies in Civil Engineering in Ghent University (Belgium). I'm looking for a laptop with several required specifications. One of them is that I need an Intel HD graphics 5500 (or higher) GPU, so I can run Intel Virtualization Technology and VT-d in BIOS.

I'm really interested in the 15 inch HP ENVY x360 with Intel processor. The only problem is that the GPU is an NVIDIA GEFORCE MX150. Does this mean that I can't run the Intel Virtualization Technology and VT-d in BIOS?

I hope someone has an answer because I don't know that much about laptops.
Thanks a lot!

You should be fine b/c the Envy models with Intel processors have integrated Intel graphics (UHD 620), even if they also have the dedicated Nvidia. UHD 620 is "higher" than the requirement as the HD 5500 is from the 5th generation of Intel chips and the Envy uses 8th generation chips so you should be OK with any of the Intel models. The question is whether you need the one with the Nvidia, too. I say "yes", if you'll be running Autocad or anything like it. The best thing is to verify the model you're getting with the university prior to purchasing.
