hello there. my name is ian i am a devout WP fan. i have an android tablet but am not totally impressed with it. i find it to be more filler than killer. i find my WP Dell Venue Pro on TMo to be a great albeit flawed phone. my keys are wearing out. the screen is failing.

i am looking to get a new wp8 handset. tried the 8x, think its great except i hate that it has no card port and its tiny! im 6 4 and i dwarf it. my mom has a galaxy media player 1 and i think its the perfect size for a device. i consider the ativ S the wp8 version of that, plus dual core and optimized. what i am asking is, i am looking to go onto a plan such as straight talk, red rocket. i am wondering what options there are for connections on WP8. i am not a diehard power user. i do not consume apps left and right. what i need is something that can give me the coverage i need an occasionally send a pic message. i am wondering if there is an option to set the preferences to WiFi instead of 3g? also where do people go to buy a physical wall outlet charger for this model? i am not really into the lumia. i like the understated business look of the Ativ S(which ironically is very similar to the chrome accents on my dell venue pro). if i cannot find one that is affordable, i will probably buy the LG optimus G LTE for ATT prepaid being that it is one of the best reviewed Droids in recent memory and can be had for 450 off contract. any help would be appreciated!

Not quite sure exactly what you are asking with the plan and red rocket thing (I'm in Canada) but I'll try and answer what I can for you.

" i am wondering if there is an option to set the preferences to WiFi instead of 3g?"

You can turn off your data (3G, 4G, LTE) and use only WiFi.

" also where do people go to buy a physical wall outlet charger for this model?"
If I understand correctly this phone as well as basically any recent phone (excluding iPhone) use a basic Mirco USB that can be found almost anywhere and should work with any wall adapter you have. The phone does come with both a cable and USB to wall plug adapter as well.
