Screen Rotation

My Lumia 520 automatically upgrade to Windows 8.1. A couple of issues now. The screen rotation does not work. I have set the screen rotation in settings to off. Also if I have been listening to music with headphones after I have removed the phones and stopped the music the phone does not get in a position to receive calls. I have to shut the phone and then it reverts to its pre music stage. Help please.

first step, soft reset. (no data is lost whatsoever)
press and hold power + volume down until the phone vibrates.
