Screenshot is not being taken. Why?

Whenever I try to take a screenshot, a note appears above the phone screen, saying, "Couldn't take screenshot!" Why is it so?

Usually, the screenshot saves despite the message. But if it isn't, if recommend freeing up space for at least 500 pictures or so.
