Server IP address could not be found

I get the error “server IP address could not be found” when I try to open any page in Chrome, despite being connected successfully to my wifi network.

In Internet Explorer the error is “temporary DNS error”, error code: “INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND”

I’ve tried all the suggestions here to no effect:

When I run the Windows troubleshooter on the network I get: WiFi doesn’t have a valid IP configuration - Not Fixed

Windows 10 on Surface Pro 4

Other things to note: internet works fine on iPhone. Internet works on PC when hotspotting from iPhone

First time using this modem/network and first time using laptop in Canada. I have just moved from Australia.

Bizarrely, some pages work: yahoo, google and YouTube are ones I’ve tried that work.

Please can someone help?!
