setting a default start page in IE?

Anyone know of a way to set a default start page in IE? Or to always start it without the previous webpage? I've got the 8.1 update, if it matters.
I don't want to pin a webpage to my home screen, cuz it's not see-through.
I hate opening up IE and then it loads up the previous webpage, especially when the previous webpage was a download.

I don't know, but closing the tabs before closing IE does help too. Opens with a clean tab every time.

In 8.1, pressing the back button closes the tab (and a fresh tab opens the next time you start IE). If you close a tab from the multitasking card, the previous tab will open when you launch IE the next time.

Hmm, pressing the back button just takes me to the previous web page. I guess I'll have to do David's suggestion. Too bad there isn't a simpler way.
