Should I revive my Lumia 1520 and 1020?

Hi guyz.

About half a year ago, I posted a thread asking whether I should replace my battery on my beloved Lumia 1520 or if I should move on and use some other mobile OS.

Since then I've been using a shattered Galaxy S4 with Android 5.0.1 and It wasn't actually that bad (in terms of customization and hardware communication). The main reason I wanted an Android/iOS phone was just because of some apps that were missing on the Windows Store such as Snapchat and some few other apps. Now I've realized that I don't even need Snapchat no more cause I don't hang out with people as much as I used to... And to be honest, W10 Mobile is much better than any of the other mobile operating systems!

A brand new battery with 3500mAh (100+ mAh) on eBay cost only 12$. I remember in 2014 when I had WP8 on it, how the battery literally lasted for like 2 days. 3500mAh is pretty much for a modern smartphone and the price on eBay seems to be fairly nice. Is it worth it? By the way, my 1520 is in excellent condition.

I also have a Lumia 1020 which I bought during summer break from some random guy for like 50$. It was brand new and all but he told me that the sim reader is broken and that It needed a replacement. I found some sim readers on eBay for the 1020 and they were only 2-4$ each. Should I do it?

The reason is asking for advice from you guys is only because of W10 Mobile and it's efficiency in the near future. I've heard from a bunch of people that mid to late 2017 will be revolutionizing for smartphones. Like x86 chip phones, phones that can bend like rubber, etc.

Then again, should I fix at least one of them?
Or should I wait for a new smartphone.

are you able to fix them urself? if so then I say go for it! got nothing to lose and you will be super happy with the 1520 on W10m, fix both of them if your able to do the job urself... that's what I would do. then once they're fixed you can sell them for a bit of cash and put that towards the next upgrade... win/win situation

I agree, and since that is very little to fix, you should try it but try it for the one that is the least risky maybe.

@gordonfink knows quite a bit about hardware, I think his insight could help here because I'm not too familiar.
