Hello,
I have Skype installed on a Windows 8.1 machine, my Windows Phone (running 8.1 DP), and an iPad Mini. For whatever reason, voicemail is not supported in the Windows 8.1 and WP versions. However, in the past, I have been able to access it by calling my Skype to Go number or by using my iPad Mini. The problem is with the most recent update to the Skype WP app, it seems that the caller can no longer leave a voicemail when the app is installed and I'm signed in to my Skype account. The phone will notify me that I'm receiving a call but if I ignore the call or just don't answer it, it no longer goes to voicemail like it used to. For the caller it rings and rings and eventually just goes to a busy signal. I've disabled and re-enabled voicemail using the web interface but I later discovered that the only way to fix it is to uninstall the WP app. Anyway, it's a bit of an annoyance and odd that the problem only started with the update from April.
What I have been doing is using my Skype number a secondary phone number for the last several years. If someone asks for my home phone number, particularly a company I'm doing business with, that is the number I give them and then I only provide my cell number to family, friends, and business associates. This eliminates the vast majority of unwanted calls and spam texts on my cell. However, now it seems I have a choice of either losing voicemail completely or losing Skype on my WP. Any suggestions?
