Is this app supposed to replace Tango that is preloaded on phones??

So for current wp7 users, skype will be just another app?

yeah you can download it now actually i think ( beta )

but you need to have a phone with a FFC to support it ( I think)

when we are going to get the update it will get integrated , so even if you get the app now its going to get integrated later on.

they did with XBOX LIVE extra it was an app and it got integrated into the XBL HUB ( with mango) , same thing will happen with the XBOX companion app ,

No, Skype works on gen 1 phones. You can't do video without a FFC, of course, but in my experience, performance with just voice is very poor, so doubtful you would want to do video in any case. Hopefully this will improve with the next release.

You can use Skype on 1st gen phones. It uses the back camera.

Btbam91 is correct. You can use the Skype (beta) app on all Windows Phones. Ones without FFCs use the back camera. All phones can still use the chat system. There was a rumor about the chat part being integrated into Tango, but I have my doubts.

Skype kinda sucks with first gen phones (no front facing camera). Also, the video is laggy.

Tango (the app/video call service, to be clear) has nothing to do with Microsoft and is only there because it's preloaded by OEMs, so it will probably be available for download even after Skype has been integrated.

tango software update is not an app like the tango app for older iphones and windows phone.
