So what is the Me tile good for now?

Since WP 8.1 came out, Facebook's notifications don't appear in the Me tile and neither does Twitter... so is it still useful in any way? I unpinned it as I don't need to see my face on my start screen

When (if ever) Twitter updates to fit in the People Hub, will the Me tile update? Otherwise it is pretty useless now isn't it?

Honestly I don't know.

I unpinned it since I got 8.1 dev preview a few months ago.

I still have it pinned, since it's damn useful if you want to post status updates on several social networks at once. This requires installation of an app like UniShare | Windows Phone Anwendungen + Spiele Store (Deutschland) though. Which I can highly recommend.

^^ That. plus doing a quick Check In. Can also use Post Update to post to twitter/fb/linkedin and then IFTTT recipe to get it to the other networks via triggers. For me i post to twitter and use #fb and/or #in and IFTTT will pick that tweet up and go post it on Facebook or LinkedIn (respectively) for me.

Indeed it is but it opens the app. It become an additionnal step (except if you're already in the app of course).

That's why you should use Unishare. It doesn't open any other app, but directly posts to the networks you configured. No live tile for the me tile anymore though.

Yeah, for me most of the usage was as a live tile, not as a gateway to posting (I did use it for that but it was not my main thing) which is why I unpinned it.

But, does (as long as, as mentioned above, you have the relevant SM apps installed) ...give you a nice simple stream of your posts and mentions across your various social media accounts.

Other than that - not much else.

Other than changing your profile photo, showing your own updates/feeds in the 'What's New' section.. basically, nothing else really.

Thanks. There are two similar SN sharing apps recommended in the phone and I find that UniShare is better in more SN integration. Thanks for the tip!

My pleasure. I've tested the other two apps as well, but decided to go with UniShare, as its dev really keeps pushing and improving the app. And there are definitely a few more cool features in the pipeline.

I still see stuff from Facebook in the Me hub. Running WP 8.1 and Cyan official.
