Soft volume control

Is there a way to adjust the volume in the os/software?

My daughters phone's vol down button does not work..

No way that I know of

What phone is it ? If phone with shell that can be removed, remove the shell and make sure button are in right place.

It is a Lumia 820.. The buttons on the shell work, but the vol-down button on the phone is missing the gold metal circle that connects the circuit for vol-down when you press it..

there are some volume apps out there, but I just plugged in a headset with volume controls and adjusted it that way. as it changes the master volume the setting remains after headset removed. I used the ones that came with LG G2
