Some questions on the 925 (in comparison with 810)

I bought the 925 from HSN and opened it up today. Some general questions, in comparison with my existing 810 which is on 8.1DP and the 925 is on WP 8.

1. I transferred the T-Mobile SIM from 810 to 925 and the 925 says no SIM - I was under the impression that just moving the SIM to 925 should do it ... is that not correct?

2. I put the the 925 next to 810 and read some BING articles and some other places on both. The 925 whereas has better resolution / display gave a yellowish tinge (newspaper like). The 810 was more white (very slight blue I guess). Is this what the general experience is?

3. In 925, there seems to be more space on the top between where time is displayed and where the tiles start. the gap is almost like that of half a tile (small size)! The 810 it is probably like quarter of a small sized tile.

4. I don't seem to get the setting where in the app list you get alphabets and you can jump from apps starting with a specific alphabet (not sure what that feature is called). On the 810 it was on the 8.0 and is on DP 8.1 too. Tried looking up for this in settings but couldn't figure it out.

Any help or comments on above?

2) On most newer Lumias including the 925 you can adjust the temperature of the display yourself.

4) The jump lists only appear when you have reached a certain number of apps.

I should have mentioned it .. yes I did check that and on both phones settings is at Neutral. I will play around on the 925 to see if I can get a more white screen.

Thanks. Didn't know that and now I know it is called Jump List :)

With the 925 saying "No SIM," I have a question for you - was the phone on when you inserted the SIM card? If it was, then just reboot and you should be fine. If that's not what happened, you might have inserted the SIM incorrectly. It can be a little tricky the first time. It has to sit flush in the SIM card tray. My friend had this problem when she first got her 925.

Hope this helps!

.. removed the SIM again and rebooted and it worked. I guess I hadn't inserted the SIM correctly or maybe SIM door wasn't all the way in. Thanks.

I have changed the color temp to the cooler side ... though it still isn't close to the 810 - which also seems to be a brighter.

The camera on the 925 beats the 810 easily.

The extra space between the time and the beginning of tiles is bothering me. See the screen shot!

and here is the screen shot from the 810. Could some 925 owners please post there screen shots? If that is how it is then so be it.

I think this has to do with the difference between 8.0 and 8.1. If I'm not mistaken, the gap at the top was decreased with 8.1. I have the 925 with 8.1 and it looks more like your 810 secreenshot.

That's normal in Windows Phone 8. Windows Phone 8.1 eliminates a bit of that extra space at the top of the screen.
