Something is sporadically consuming battery power within 7 hours

Hello guys,

Since some weeks (maybe with amber update) there is a problem with the battery duration. In normal days my Lumia 720 runs at least three days without charging.
At least once a week the battery begins suddenly discharging in about 7 hours.
I think the cause could be a hanging process, which causes 100% processor utilization. As far as I know there is no process explorer for WP8 that may identify this process. In the multitasking view there are no programs opened. But when I restart the phone the power consumption is back to normal.

So what can I do to identify the hanging process?

On my start screen the following titles are enabled:
• Whatsapp
• Email (live, gmail)
• Weekview
• System settings
• Facebook
• Wheather view
• Alarm
• Pictures
• Contacts
• Wpcentral
• Data sense
• Wparea

Wifi, GSM, glance screen and localization are always enabled.

Hope you can help me with this issue?

Honestly I do not know. That said, it seems like most people with battery or storage issues have whatsapp...could just be a coincidence though.

I installed whatsapp long time ago. Because of that I think it could be a different app. Is there no task manager available? What else can I do if I see the high battery consumption again?

Whatsapp is a charge killer, ok but you must give us some specific information before you shoot the messenger.

-update interval of mail accounts
-screen brightness
-NFC function
-and other browsing apps (wpcentral and others) update interval

I advise you to uninstall Facebook application and experience your battery's performance again. If nothing positive, try another app as depending variable by same uninstalling one by one wpcentral, weather, and weekview.

uninstalling Facebook and doing a calibration work for my battery and also I don't use real time updating on apps except for mail accounts and contacts (updates Facebook sufficiently)

.
-update interval of mail accounts --> 30 minutes
-screen brightness --> automatic
-NFC function --> off (also data connections tuned off)
-and other browsing apps (wpcentral and others) update interval --> no realtime updates

The problem is that the discharging rate ist normal until about once a week. Without doing anything the battery is empty within some hours. It must be a backround task that hangs up.

Its kind of strange you experience a battery drain once a week but not on other days.. Have you tried a soft reset?

It's not only a strange experience, it really sucks. Yesterday I arrived two hours late at work because the alarm didn't ring. During the night the battery discharged completely, although it was charged to about 80%. You can see this behaviour in the battery app, too. One day normal discharging rate and then in the night there was a huge drop down.
In this point my old Nokia was much better. The alarm worked really fine, even if the phone has been turned off or the battery has almost been empty.
