Hi all,

Anybody knows if this display cover will make it on time for SP 4. It would remove the old-fashioned touchpad on laptops.

I doubt it. The Surface Pro 4 is expected this fall and that accessory is still in prototype stage. They may not have even began testing it on Surface devices, let alone finalizing it for release.

I don't get the appeal of it. Yes it removes the "old-fashioned" touchpad but doesn't replace it with anything. Touchpads allow for precision control (especially important when using non-touch optimized apps).

It reminds me of the original nook ebook reader.

Showing a working prototype 100% shows that it's being tested on said device. Doesnt change weather it will come out or not, but obviously it has been tested. Feel free to try again tho.
My point wasn't that it wasn't being tested, it was that it was highly unlikely to come out with the Surface Pro 4. So, again, doesn't change my point even remotely. Have a good day, sir.

Well, now that Surface Pro 4 is out, I think they went the right direction with what they did.

However, it looks like the Surface Pro 4 is more of an iPad Pro killer (as it makes the new iPad Pro look like a complete folly), and the new Surface Book will be the MacBook killer AND the iPad Pro killer. Killer, dude.

Microsoft produced an iPad Pro killer years ago with the Surface 2. :winktongue: For business professionals, the Surface 2 is more "pro" than the iPad Pro (which another member here dubbed, the iPad RT)

The tag line for today's event should be, "The Empire Strikes Back".

With Apple being the "Evil Empire", I thought the event should be, "The Return of the Jedi". After all, Microsoft's Mojo is back.
I could see that. However, having worked for IBM for 30 years and had various interactions with Microsoft during that time, Microsoft will always be the Empire. :)
