Hey Guys I have a Lumia 822 and I just wanted to put it on Straight Talk so I got the BYOP pack from Walmart set up the sim and installed it and.......no service. I called and they said that the sim was active but that I cant use a Verizon sim card phone on straight talk which I know is a lie but now I do not know what to do. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

We'll need a little more information. Are you using the AT&T SIM card, or the T-Mobile one? You probably need to manually set your APN settings. The correct APN settings will depend on whether you're using the AT&T or the T-Mobile SIM card.

Set the following
Apn
att.mvno
Proxy server: proxy.mvno.tracfone.com
Port 80

Reboot and see if it works. I use att syraighttalk and that works on my 929

sorry. not really familiar with cdma phones. here are screen shots of my ativ s on straight talk at&t sim. been using this sim for 2 years without problems, but always on a gsm phone.

I honestly don't know. I misspoke on my first post. Verizon phones are supposed to be unlocked, like you said. I've never used one, though. I've heard there may be issues getting mms to work. be sure to reboot your phone after you put the new apn settings in.

Doesn't matter, the 822 is unlocked for GSM carriers. You can first check if the phone is not stolen and the imei blacklisted from Verizon. If it's not then hard reset the phone while the SIM card is still in the phone and go through the initial setup. I'm pretty sure the phone, if not faulty would come up with the signal, I had a Lumia 822 which I used in T-Mobile for a few days and it worked just fine.

You can use the following link to check if your phone would work on Verizon (this would at least tell you whether your phone is not blacklisted with Verizon)

I believe these APN settings are Net10. Straight Talk & Net10 are owned by the same company, but they have different APN settings.

rpm1984, I would think there would be instructions included with your package telling you what APN settings to use. If not, or if they don't work, then Google it. My wife used Straight Talk awhile ago, and I recall that there were 3 different APN's to try. She tested until one worked.

no they are not, those are the APN settings for all new Tracfone activations, regardless of what Tracfone brand.

if it says no service APN settings don't mean diddly. You can and do have voice service without the correct APN settings of the phone and account are valid.

If the SIM works fine in another ATT GSM phone then the problem is the phone not the SIM. If it doesn't then activation has not completed on the account with that SIM. If you are porting a number it can take up to 48 hours.

OK, thanks, I didn't know that. My wife was on Straight Talk until I believe December 2013, and her APN settings were different than mine on Net10. We both used AT&T SIMs. Evidently that's been changed since.
