strugglin 4 serv/sanity

Where i live i do not get very good service. But with my Edge Krzr i got like 2 bars. But with the at&t BJII i'm lucky to get one bar with the phone sitting down. Then after i write a txt, it'll still say i have one bar but as soon as i press send it gives me the error screen and i'll lose serv, then i gotta wait like 5 min juz to get service again. omg so frustrating it's like not even worth txting sum1. anyone know of any way to help?!?!?plz
