Support for Windows Phone 8.0

I suspect that my phone provider, Wind in Canada, will not provide the 8.1 update for my huawei w1. It has still not received the gdr1 update and I cannot participate in the dev preview without the 2nd or 3rd update. If this is so, how long do you think 8.0 apps will be developed and supported? Are there security concerns? Thanks!

They could in theory approve the 8.1 update, making it cumulative. There are still hopes.

Yes they might at some point. I wish Microsoft could just deploy the updates without having to go through the carrier. I love the 8.0 system to be clear. But I am looking forward to the new multitasking with the close option instead of always having to back out of an application and the extra customization options. I don't think I will use the notification center.

The "Developer Preview" is their little wink-wink, nudge-nudge way of doing that.

Well, when it first appeared with Update 3 at least.
