Surface Laptop can win the battle?

I don't think they will be trying to sell it to the masses as such, rather reinforcing the Microsoft brand, associating it with quality products and setting the standard for OEMs

I would say that Surface is the only product, other than possibly Xbox, that's making Microsoft cool in the eyes of the people, so even if the Surface Laptop is overpriced, I do believe it will sell well, and be considered a success within its niche (students, etc).

Agree. Even if they want to sell it for higher price, they should make it $100 cheaper at least. It could be an issue outside the US with taxes and higher VAT. Just like with Apple devices being incredibly expensive in some countries.

considering the price , no.
considering performance/usability/productivity , yes for sure.
it depends on the amount of cash ur ready to pay :p

They play in too different fields to truly contend. Chrome OS is playing in the field of Internet of things, where they quite excel, but it's almost useless without a web connection. Windows, currently, is playing in the field of Computing prowess for all your tasks, connected or not - but of course at a more premium price.

I'm thinking "No" here, but I also think it depends on whether or not cheaper laptop options become available with 10 S installed on them. Chromebooks have a mass appeal because of their price, and Microsoft hasn't done anything to change that yet. Once price is addressed by either Microsoft or its Windows partners, then we'll see.

hey spaciouszebra, eventually new laptops will be coming with windows 10 s pre-installed. at the microsoft education event about 1 month ago some vendors were announced that will release laptops, with the cheapest one starting at $189.
