Ahead of the event, there was signs it wouldn't come until next year at least.

Curiously, I'm told there are no plans to ship a new Surface Laptop or Surface Pro this fall. So, if you've been holding out for those, I wouldn't hold your breath. I hear Microsoft is saving those for the bigger Windows vNext push next year, but that's a story for later.

Has Microsoft already decided to kill off the Surface line? The reason I ask is that one of the first signs of a product being discontinued is service rot, and Microsoft Complete has become a nightmare for users. It has been offloaded to a call center and it is nearly impossible to get a service request approved. The Intel Surface Pro 9 NEVER got an LTE SKU, and performance of the Surface 9 ARM version still lags behind Intel. Granted MS was there for the Oryon chip pre-preview, but no real commitment on devices. The race to AI nirvana has eclipsed all else at MS...
