This thread is for anyone who purchased the 256GB/i5/8GB model from EBay from that WC article about 2 weeks ago. I just got mine in about 6 days ago. When i recieved it the outer seal was clearly broken but the inner seal was in tact. I found one little blemish on my SP4 that makes me think that these were models that had some type of imperfection and could not be shipped out to regular consumers. It does not feel used or like a refirb but i doubt it is something that is brand new that u would buy at the local MS store.

I feel good about the deal i got it for $400 less than retail and it is just about perfect. The small blemish i have in mine is a tiny little hole (about the size of one or two pixels) on the left black area of the display i.e. the bezel. You literally can see through the device into the back, i put my finger behind the device and i can see the light change in the blemish. Other than that it is pretty much perfect. Oh and my keyboard is having a hard time recognizing the device and some times it takes me 2 or 3 times to connect the keyboard to get it to work. But i cant place blame on the SP4 until i know it is that and NOT the keyboard. I bought an Alcantera keyboard so it might be the keyboard and not the device. I will have to check it out.

So how was your experience ordering this from Ebay? Did you get it on time? Does it look perfectly new or are there any issues? I'm curious to know, thanks in advance!

It took me a while to even find it, it's so small and its not on the "display" which would annoy the hell out of me. It's in the bezel. Let me see if i can get a picture.

It sounds worse than it is, but if these things all have a defect in some way....(I saw someone else in the comments say that theirs was clearly used and had some wear on the sides) then i dont want to risk getting another one and it has a different problem that is worse. I really dont think its a big deal. And returning is a pain in the ***...but now im thinking about it.

My first laptop had the caps lock light fail after 2 months- it wasn't worth the effort to return it for repairs so I just used it as it was. Now if the screen or sound had failed, I would definitely return it. But a hole a pixel wide? Nah, just leave it. Your device is unique now :winktongue:

Somewhat scary getting these from outside sources other than Microsoft or bestbuy. I recently purchased a "brand new" one from amazon and it was not new at all. Refurbished. I understand these can work perfectly fine and most of the time probably do, everyone needs to be aware that if there is a steep discount on one of these, there's probably a reason behind it!

As promised....think i need a strong lens now? Like i said about a pixel or two in size but becomes noticeable when there is light behind the device.

Well it's pretty obvious hole there now I can see it. Some people might think it's cool and want to keep it. Some go back to the store and exchange.
