Surface Pro 4 is painful to use

In looking through your posts, I'm not understanding what isn't working for you? What problems are you having?

My display problem seems to be different from others that have posted. I get flickering lines on the top 1/2" of the display. And when I try to open anything, app, word, excel, web, etc. it is transparent and I can see through to the screen underneath. This makes it just about impossible to read. At first this would last for a few minutes. But now it seems to be constant. I did a complete reset the other day to see if that would fix it but no luck.

After Thursdays update it seems the full page transparency issue is not present. I still get the flickering bars on the top and that is transparent still when opening another program. So if I open say a Word doc., the screen underneath would bleed through to the top menu bars. Will see if the full page transparency comes back. I'm not home now so can't tell if it has resurfaced. But bottom line is I'll probably have to exchange it. Next Monday will be 3 weeks. Got mine on the first day.

Returned mine and I wiped it before sending it back to Microsoft. I'm back to using my S3 and will see about the S4 in 6 months or so.

I5/128 No issues at all. Think you guys got bad hardware.

User error. Mines perfect when I on boarded it the correct way , My first one I did not and tried to do too much up front probably messing with the restore image, I would not say it was entirely user error as much as the OS could not in its early state handle mass configuration and licensing changes correctly while doing firmware updates..so I do believe its software and a combo of user error creating a bad mix..for some

My second M3 is perfect!

I also have a Surface Pro 3 and I am on the fence about which model to keep. My SP4 has improved. The screen tint changes are gone, battery life has improved a bit and I'm not getting BSOD. If I use Chrome there are few display driver restarts but with Edge I'm still getting restarts and page scrolling is not as fluid as it should be. I believe there is some kind of problem with either Windows 10 and/or Edge and the display driver in SP4 which will eventually be resolved with updated software.

Placing SP3 and SP4 side by side it is obvious that SP4 has the better screen. The screen on SP3 is very good but SP4 is excellent. There is very little difference when holding each unit. In terms of performance, such as start up, opening apps and daily tasks I don't see a significant difference. Right now SP3 works flawlessly and SP4 doesn't, there are still glitches, but I feel confident that eventually SP4 will work as well or better than SP3. The SP4 keyboard is a big upgrade and I am so glad it works with both models. Besides the screen the other advantages to SP4 are Hello and the improved pen sensitivity. The advantage to choosing SP3 is saving about $600 (estimating I can sell the SP3 for $700) and having a perfectly operating unit right now. So is a better screen, Hello and better pen sensitivity worth $600 on a device that is currently a bit glitchy? I'm not sure.
