Taskbar Icons keep getting colored boxes around them

Over the past few days, my system has been adding those colored boxes around the mail, calendar, and Groove icons on the taskbar. This has happened before, and I have a fix of opening Powershell and running a command that resets all of the built-in apps, and clears the colored boxes. But in the last day, it has reverted almost right after doing this process. Anyone know how to get this to stop permanently, or why it happens at all? Hoping today's update fixes it for good....
