Temporarily Disable Podcast Downloads

Is there a global phone setting that lets you disable automatic podcast downloads? I'm travelling and because I know my carrier is not available at my destination I will be connecting to the internet via a mobile wifi hotspot (for the locale). The problem is my video podcast subscriptions will eat into the mobile hotspot data plan very quickly. Any thoughts on what I can do?
