Tethering and wireless?

Noob question alert!!

Because I am not much of a phone geek, after reading this forum for a few days, things seem to get more confusing and not clearer. So here is the situation.

I am in the process of upgrading and the have two questions about the samsung focus.

1. I would like to tether it to my laptop running windows vista home premium. Is they a way to tether and how?

2. I would like to use the wireless when I can such as at my home and coffee shops, etc.. Is this ez to do?
