Tethering on 3 UK

I'm having a few issues with my ADSL connection at the moment so as a temporary workaround, I've added a monthly tethering addon to my pay monthly account with 3. They told me that it would take 24 hours to activate and 30 hours later, I'm still unable to share my connection with other devices successfully. Each time I try on my laptop or desktop, I get a notification from 3 telling me that tethering isn't part of my plan. The weird thing is, when I tether to my galaxy tab 3, it works without a problem.

Unfortunately, 3 customer service is closed for the night so I can't contact them for support so could anyone here make a suggestion to get things working please?

I've tried restarting a number of times and also a soft reset but no luck so far.

That must mean it isn't added yet because three probably sees galaxy tab and is like yep that's android so it's a mobile phone (thinking it is just your phone using the internet) but your laptop it sees and goes oh desktop browser using internet, definitely tethering, turns data off. you'll just have to wait a bit longer three shouldn't be closed at all. Problems aside, imagine how amazing 4G tethering will be

Cheers for the reply luk3ja.

I tried changing user agent strings on the laptop and desktop to a mobile device but it still didn't work. Oh well, I'll just have to wait I suppose and perhaps give them a call in the morning.

In the meantime, it works perfectly from the missus's 920 which has a PAYG account!

And yes....I can't wait for 4G tethering although I think it's going to be quite a few months away...possibly a year! Managed to talk 3 into letting me switch to The One plan too which they at first point blank refused to let me do :)

Awesome, the one plan allows tethering by default right?

It does but the change of price plan doesn't start until my next billing month so I still need the tethering addon for the time being....although I'm sure they said I can have that free of charge after my polite but extremely well constructed complaint :)
