Text messages disappear

I have a Samsung ATIV SE which I love but I have had an issue since I got the phone and Verizon, Samsung and Microsoft can't help. I have had text messages disappear out of the blue. There is no pattern for these missing messages. Sometimes it is a block of messages with older and new messages still intact. Other times it is just random messages that have disappeared. I spent hours on the phone with Verizon troubleshooting and they ended up sending me a new phone but the problem still exists. At least Verizon tried. Samsung spent 5 minutes troubleshooting and then said they don't know whats wrong. Microsoft will not provide any support. They say it's not there responsibility. Any ideas?

Indeed strange.

1 Do you use the backup options in settings?
2 Do you have another phone with the same primary account?

If 1 and 2 are true and you delete it on one phone it will also disappear on the other phone.

I've had text messages disappear once I notice I have a new one, then realize the screen is non-responsive, then do a battery pull/restart. About half the time after the battery pull the messages are gone.
