Texting vs Facebook

I have my WP integrated with Facebook. I have a contact I want to send a text. I have his phone # stored in the phone. Only problem is that when I try and chat with him with the native WP, it seems to only want to send to him via FB. I even went into Messaging and turned OFF Facebook Chat.

I'm sure I'm just being dense, but how can I pick which medium to send to him via? Thanks in advance.

Have you tried the switch button? The one with two arrows? This will allow you to select which messaging mode to use.
