The Piper computer kit is down to $239 on Amazon. This is a match for the lowest price this year. It sells at $300 pretty regularly and has only dropped this low or lower three times since it was released earlier in 2016.
These things are designed to be easy enough for kids, but we're talking about learning how to build a self-contained computer. If you've never done anything like that, it's something anyone at any age can learn from.
