The only way to get apps on windows phone

When I read the windows central articles on Chase stopping windows support, and snapchat blocking requests, I got irritated and wanted to do something about it. It's been like this for a long time, companies sneer at us and chuckle at the idea of supporting their customers on this platform.

Lets face it. The app gap is annoying and its not necessarily from a lack of users. The truth is, there are millions of windows phone users, and with the future of universal apps coming down the road, the windows market is going to explode. What are these companies thinking the future of apps and the internet will hold? Is everything going to stay html, java, and php coding? No! Apps are the future.
So why don't we have the apps?

I've done a lot a research on this, and I believe it's because companies think we don't matter. Snapchat ignores us, Chase leaves us hanging, and others simply don't reply to our requests or care. They reason there's a "cost benefit" analysis (when they reply to us), but then they turn around and offer a lot of these apps free on other platforms, or part of a prior existing subscription. It's frustrating!

Microsoft has built, and is building, a solid platform that I love, and companies are leaving it the dark. It's not Microsoft's fault, it's these darned antiquated executives fault.

What can we do? I think that if we get together and sign petitions requesting specific support from specific companies, then we might see some change. The windows community deserves a little more respect then is given to us.

I'm thinking of going to one of these petition sites and starting one up for each app/company that we post. First, I'd like some feedback on ideas of how to do this and done existing services that might work for this purpose.

Go ahead, lets do it. Just remember that we've been doing this for years now. We've got plenty of apps from this method but there are just a few major ones left. Mainly games are missing.

Universal apps will help when Windows 10 launches. I think Windows on the PC and tablet will be a hit, like Windows 7 was. Some apps that didn't get made due to the cost vs return on investment will reconsider.

However, there does appear to be companies like Pebble and Snapchat that just have some irrational hatred for Microsoft and actively choose to ignore Microsoft. I feel in the long run, they are doing this to their own detriment. Not that Windows Phone will suddenly jump to the top of marketshare (we can always dream!), but business decisions made on personal opinions and grudges are petty, and speaks on the overall business health of a company.

I do disagree somewhat that you say apps are the future. HTML5 is very powerful, and it is the single language that is truly universal. Every smartphone, regardless of operating system, every desktop PC, every tablet, every smart TV, every single device with an internet connection understands HTML. Web apps are seen as something as a crutch on Windows Phone, but I think that long term, HTML5 is the basis of most apps on every platform.

Or you could encourage your friends and family to get a windows phone, improving the market share making devs more eager to develop for it. Isn't that what the devs want?
