The People Hub and Facebook integration

Hey guys, I have short question about the people hub.

My FB account is quite a bit messy right now, way too many friends and I don't have it organized the way I'd really like it. While I personally don't like facebook, I'm kinda forced to use it since too many people find e-mails obsolete and FB messaging the "new e-mail", sadly...

That said, after spending some time to get everything just right on my Lumia, I'm really afraid to link it to my FB and introduce chaos.
So, my main questions would be: How does it really work and is the process completely and easily reversible in case I don't like it?

Also, does it impact your data trafic too hard?

Thanks

I think if you remove the FB sign in credentials from the inbuilt FB client, FB contacts should disapper in people hub, never tried it.

I would install a 3rd party FB client, log inside it to keep things organized.

As for data impact, pretty sure it'll eat data as I get notifications out of the blue, as for how much depends on the settings you choose.

For instance if you let FB photos update your lockscreen, you could be in trouble.

Are you from Poland?

Facebook integrated people app will only eat data if you navigate to the "what's new" page.

Contacts will only sync when changes have been made to individual contact records, either on the server or on the phone - full sync only happens one time.

If you want to separate close friends/family away from the masses of Facebook hoards, then use the Groups function

I'm sorry pal, but I randomly get notifications in the "Me" tile saying x new items, notifications in FB terms (Someone commented on my wall, or liked a pic or fell face first on the floor). Altough it may not be humongous data but it surely eats some.

I guess you're more popular than I am...

But yes, this is a relatively small amount of data. The me tile is just picking up a count/summary - when you navigate further, the phone will download the full content of the notifications. It's not huge, and the phone isn't downloading any Facebook feeds in the background. And you can further cut down the notifications if you change your settings in Facebook.

Lol, have about 50 or so friends, but the amount of data doesn't bother me as I use office wifi :p
I barely do FB, send me your profile link and i'll link with you, you have a snazzy avatar btw, always makes me think, "What exactly is he up to?"

Thanks for the quick answers. I already use the FB app, however everyone keeps talking about the People hub integration I feel like I'm missing out on something good :D

I guess I'll give it a shot, might even inspire me to clean up my fb a bit lol...

And no, not Poland, Serbia :)

Man, Poland, Serbia, Bulgaria, Sofia, Latvia are all same to me ;), part of Europe but your last name sounded more like Polish to me so thought should ask.

Before you start to clean up the FB account using a computer (No, you cant wipe FB friends from your phone's People Hub), try to do what I said in post No. 2, might buy you some time.

Couple things in the People hub that can be handy. You can filter out the FB contacts, but they can still be linked to your existing contacts. Also, they will be "filtered" out when just viewing your contacts, but still show when doing a search. Hope that helps.

Edit: so basically I only show my MS contacts, Google, Facebook and Twitter lists are all filtered out. (Google basically a backup set, Facebook friends are often ONLY fb friends ;), and Twitter is a strange list of people I don't really want as "contacts").

Tried it out, looking good so far. The filtering is very useful yeah, and the groups look promising once I set them up properly.
It might even be lighter on data traffic than the FB app or the mobile FB page on IE since the UI is so simple and minimalist.

Gonna keep using it for now! Thanks for the advice guys, appreciate it :)
