Sometimes photos appear washed-out in bright sunlight, more often on W10M TP than on 8.1, so you may look for that, use manual controls, turn Iso little bit down or so.
Also, use manual mode for night and low light photography, you'll be able to get much better images if you know what are you doing. Auto mode sometimes suck a lot.
