Those who grabbed Microsoft?s Windows Phone 8.1 Preview for Developers have been greeted with a collection of new features and updates to drool over, but one of our past beloved features has also seemed to disappear. After downloading the Developer Preview, you will notice that Bing search has been replaced by the very capable Cortana, but the ability to scan QR codes has seemed to disappear along with her arrival.
The well-loved Bing Vision featured has not been removed, but simply placed elsewhere. We are going to show you how to access Bing Vision on your device running Windows 8.1, along with three alternative third party apps that can get the job done!

my goodness....whatever happened to critical journalism?!?! Not one part of the article injects just criticism towards Microsoft for taking a feature that was once two taps and now increasing it to three? And this is just the tip of the iceberg! Microsoft is going BACKWARDS with user functionality in WP8.1 Screw Cortana and action center if it means giving up hubs and built in bing vision on search that was FAST and didn't have to wait for an app to open.

Heaven forbid that they make a rarely used feature (among most people) slightly harder to use in favor of arguably the world's best personal assistant. Calm down dude....

it is not rarely used and that is apparent from the number of people complaining in the forums.

So amusing how all the apologists around here love to glaze over these GLARING problems with dismissive comments like "calm down dude..."

I've seen 10 people complain about it. Whooptie doo. People in this forum are also mad about the Windows 8.1 Update, even though it's been universally reported as much better for desktop users, so I wouldn't take a few people in this forum as evidence of a widely used feature.

if you turn of the location service Bing search will work as normal and Cortana will not work. when you are ready for Cortana just turn on back the location service and Bing search will hide again. Its that Simple.
