Touch and Type with Nokia Power keyboard

Is this any way to use both touch and type with the Nokia power keyboard?

I even closed the touch pad lid and it doesn't bring up the keyboard. I even slide the tablet down off the magnet - still no touch keyboard when using metro???????

Same issue here. The only way I know to get around it is to launch the touch keyboard from the charms bar.
