Touchscreen not working after update to W10 Insider Preview

Hello everyone,
I managed to install the Windows 10 preview on my tablet through Windows Update and I was very happy for about 30 sec. To be short, I can't use the touchscreen my mouse and keyboard via bluetooth are the only way to interact with my tablet, when I log on it opens but keeps on doing an animation where everything on the desktop pops on and then pops out, I really can't do anything with it. So, I was wondering if anyone on this planet could help me to find a way to get a more or less stable OS on my tablet.

Yep, go back to Windows 8.1. W10TP hasn't been optimized for tablet use yet. You did create a W8.1 USB recovery drive, before you installed W10TP, right....

I'm scared that I might have forgotten to do so with the excitment of upgrading to W10 but the situation evolved a bit. Let me explain, the thing is that now even if I connect the bluetooth thing my tablet won't react to my mouse or keyboard and still nothing if I touch the screen. I realise that it was not a smart move from me to upgrade that way but I saw people with similar tablets upgrading succesfully so I tough it would be a very smooth operation. Any idea about what I could do now ?

Contact Lenovo, and order a recovery drive? You might be able to do a key combo and get it into recovery mode. I'm not sure. But worst case, call Lenovo and see if they can walk you through something.

So, since I couldn't do anything with my tablet (the processor overloads everytime I open it) I went to the store where I originally bought my tablet and they said they'll simply send it back to Lenovo who will put back the factory settings and it won't cost me any money. Hope it won't take months to get back my tab but I'm happy everything will be fine in the end. Thanks for trying to help me Guzzler3, really appreciate it

Sweet. At least they are doing it for free. Sad that you'll be without it for awhile.

I did do a bit more research on your device, yea it's a locked up device. Meaning you can't make a USB recovery drive for when things go wrong. I'm not sure I like things like that. But there was a key combination that would do a factory recovery, but I'm not sure if W10 over wrote the recovery partition.

So, I guess we learned something. Don't install technical previews on devices that you can't make a USB recovery drive.

Your problem of not being able to interact with the touch screen is due to the lack of drivers in the OS for the touch interface. To solve this all you have to do is use a different input device to the tablet [keyboard & mouse] and then got to the OEM website and download and install the display and interface drivers form Windows 8.1. Don't worry, most likely your tablets is not bricked, but it is just not in the best condition for everyday use right now. As it is right now Microsoft is still developing universal drivers for Windows 10 so it is not possible to use the touch screen with a fresh install of the Technical preview.

If you unable to have your tablet repaired under the warranty, you can still fix it yourself. It is not impossible, while your tablets still has life!

I'm waiting to revert back to 8.1. I have original windows 8.1 pro key + iso.
Tried creating UEFI USB boot but the unit doesn't seem to pick it up, although the usb light will blink like it's being accessed.

Anyway can advise how to boot into the USB properly? Nope. My error in not doing a proper backup.

I have a Lenovo Yoga 2 tablet and created a bootable USB pen drive using Rufus - a free utility. Select EFI GPT when creating the drive. Format it as FAT32 and point it to a Windows 8.1 32 bit ISO.

To boot the tablet you need a USB hub so you can connect the USB pen drive, a keyboard and mouse. You can select 'boot from EFI USB device' from the Windows Advanced Startup option screen. You must first deactivate the Security BIOS setting.

It worked for me, but I had created a system image backup of the system on an SD card before upgrading to Windows 10 so it was very easy to get back to where I was before.

Hopefully this will get you sorted and allow you to install Windows from your ISO image.

The only issue would be that the version of Windows installed on the tablet takes up less space than a fresh install from an ISO.

I tried TP on Lenovo Yoga 2 also, build 10162 had problems and "fixing those" actually ruined the installation
With system recovery disk made with windows 8.1 utility itself I thought it should be easy enough to restore 8.1 but that was not the case. After numerous attempts with or without security boot, even with bios set to setup mode I find out that windows 10 not only wipes factory recovery partition(known and advised) but also "overtakes" every attempt of another, earlier OS to make any repairs or installs
The solution was easy enough and found here in the forum as usual, it involves command prompt from W10 recovery options and utilizes diskpart tool in order to clean the system disk, only then 8.1 system restore is possible, no need to change anything in the BIOS by the way

Same problem with my HP Pavilion Laptop...HP advised me that Microsoft and HP were working on an update to the drivers. This could be the same problem for you. Check with the Laptop manufacturer. I have reverted back to 8.1 and everything works fine again!!
